The rest of the people slept comfortably at night, but Jagan heart was beating loudly. One side, the lawyer told such bad news and from the above, the ghost of Geet. Today was really a bad day. He was not able to sleep. The water was out in the jug in his room so he thought of bringing water from the kitchen.
There Maan was thinking about Geet. “Will she be alright?” He wanted to see her. Thinking that he was trying to move towards her room again and again, but his steps were stopping him.
“She hates me. Will she ever forgive me?” He was thinking.
Finally to get rid of this puzzle, he decides to meet geet and talk to her clearly. He moved towards her room. As he raised his hands to knock the door, Geet opened the door by herself. As she has come to know, Maan is standing outside.
“You are Ok Geet?”
“Thank you Maan “
Both spoke together.
Maan guessed seeing Geet’s face, that she was happy. He got relief from this thing. He could not understand what to say next, how to start talking.
“Come inside Maan” Geet broke the silence.
“Geet, I wanted to..”
“So what’s the next plan Maan?” Geet understood the reason why Maan had come to her, but she turned the topic. Actually she didn’t want to think more about what Maan wanted to ask. She only wanted to end this drama as soon as possible. She actually had got tired of this game. She wanted to live in peace.
Sensing Geet’s ignorance, Maan was now sure she wanted him as her supporter only. She was not interested in him anymore.
“You know the further plan very well Geet. I have already told you everything in letter” He spoke with the same gesture Geet had asked. “I had only come to ask if you need anything? Because you can’t come downstairs.”
“Nothing,” She said.
Maan had nothing left to talk about so he started leaving the room.
“You know Maan!” He heard her voice. “When everything was fine in my life, then also I used to stay in this room the entire day, without going downstairs”
Maan was surprised that she was actually expressing herself, for the first time. He stopped.
“No one was there to ask me, if I’m okay?” Geet spoke further. “Uncle always used to be busy in his business. He had no time for me. I always wondered how my parents were? I wish if they were alive, how much would they care for me” She got emotional.
“Geet, I can understand. I used to think the same about my father. Whenever I would see my mother working as a servant to others’ houses, I would just cry. And wondered where they would be? Why did he leave us” Maan also started opening his heart out.
“Maan, can I ask something?”
“Will you ever forgive your father?” Geet looked at him for the answer.
Maan was silent. He had not expected this question, nor ever had thought about it. He was just doing his duty in this issue without giving his emotions a inch of space in between.
“Tell me Maan?” Geet repeated.
“Never!” Maan spoke and left the place.
Both Geet and Maan didn’t realize that Savitri was there, and heard their talk.
