Geet was in a terrible shock. Her body had become like a statue. Nothing was being felt on her numb soul. The way she came inside the house without telling anyone, she returned out the same way.
“Madamji, have you brought the money?” The driver called.
Geet kept walking on the road negligent. She did not hear his call.
“Madamji” Driver called again yet Geet didn’t pay attention.
“Madam!” the driver shook her hard
“Hmm!!” Geet reacted this time.
“What happened, is everything alright?” He was surprised to see her state.
“Will you take me back to the forest? ” Geet said with a plead.
“What? Again? You are joking. Madamji. Who will go so far again? I will not go” He denied but then Geet opened her closed fist and showed the gold ring.
“Is it gold?” The driver’s eyes shine.
“Will you take me now?” This time Geet voice had command.
“Come on, Madam, sit down in the truck. I’ll sure take you back.” Driver hurried.
Geet sat on the front seat herself this time. She did not know why she asked to go back to the forest. Like some unknown force was pulling her towards the jungle. Or in this whole world, only Maan knew that she was alive. Well, she doesn’t have much sense to think of the reason. Just she said it like that.
Now it was full morning. The driver interrupted Geet many times on the way, sometimes for water, sometimes for food, but she did not respond. She just sat quietly, immersed in her thoughts, carelessly. They had finally reached the place where they had met.
Geet got down. She gave him the ring and left without saying anything. She went inside the forest. Like a ghost she was just walking ahead and ahead, without heeding where she was going. She doesn’t have a sense of those men, she doesn’t have to care for her hunger and thirst. She even didn’t know if she was going the right way!
But, as if God himself was helping her, she finally reached the building, her cage. She didn’t search for Maan, just stepped up to her room and closed the door and fell on ground, unconscious.
