Maan was ecstatic. His heart was flying in seventh heaven. Now everything was clear. Finally he would know about Geet.
But, still it was not confirmed that if she’ll be at home or not. “she’ll be all right?” He was praying for safety of her.
He moved his way where Noor told. As he was moving ahead, his heartbeat was becoming fast. This strange roads, this environment, everything was scaring him.
“That girl sent me where?” Maan thought. “How can Geet be here?”
The voices of the singing, the sound of Tabla and Sarangi, anklets dancing voices, the noise of laughter between flirty comments, this all was disturbing his mind.
“What’s connection of her with this place?” He was wondering.
He wanted to go back. It was the same place where he came up with Mohsin. Where not to move again, he had vowed. He stopped the car. His courage was not moving forward. His hatred was growing in this environment, where every eye was staring at him with the eyes of the hunter.
“Geet where are you?” His heart wept at his helplessness. He did not want to move, but his heart was forced. He closed eyes tight. Perhaps, he was preparing himself inside.
“”Maybe it’s a trick?” his brain shouted suddenly. “Maybe that girl also belongs to the place where yesterday I was taken fraudulently”. Seeing Zarina’s place he thought. “I am well aware of that kind of women. Trapping rich people is their job”
Because of anger, his breaths became furious. He turned the car and drove off out. Though Maan got the open air and breathed in relief, but his concern for Geet was increased.”Where do I find you Geet” he wept.
He did not know where to go. He was wandering like a homeless bird, famished and thirsty. Suddenly, his gaze fell on Mohsin. Standing on the bridge of the river, he was peering downward. Maan stopped the car near him and called from behind.
“What are you doing here? “Maan called. Now the evening was to come.
Mohsin panicked hearing a sudden voice. He turned back. Finding Maan there he was badly terrified. All the things of last night started dancing in front of his eyes. Maan took stock of his situation. He was tired up to down. His hair was scattered and face was dry. His eyes were red, which was full of shame. And his head was bowed in shame.
“Why didn’t you go back home?” Maan asked in angry voice.
Mohsin did not respond. He turned away.
“I’m asking you something, Mohsin. Answer me”
Mohsin was still quiet. Shame had kept his mouth shut.
It was intolerable for Maan. Geet concerns had already sealed his minds, and now the silence of Mohsin, fire started burning inside him. He went mad. “Mohsin !!” He said aloud.
“Bhai Jaan, you go. I will not go home now,” Mohsin replied in soft voice
Maan’s brain was not working. “What should he do.” he thought.
“Without you I can not go home,” Mohsin said again. He was still looking at the river.
“I can not support you, Mohsin” Maan replied with hatred. “You have betrayed me”
“I know,” Mohsin said and he started crying, “That’s why I do not want to go home. I have betrayed all. I am mad, I am not of any use. I made a mistake which can not be forgiven” His condition was going worse.
Maan could not understand, should he console his friend or shed tears on his own grief . But he decide to handle Mohsin first. Somehow, explaining him the situation, Maan persuaded him to go home.
In the car both were silent. Both heart and mind were engaged in fights. Mohsin did not understand, how he will handle the circumstances. The sin which he did, could not improve back now. He was terrified of upcoming time.
On the other hand, Maan did not know, where to find Geet. The alley, where he was sent by Noor, was upsetting him. “Who was that girl? She said Geet is her friend. Then how could she do fun with her friend’s respect, by sending me there”. He could not think of Geet being there, even for once. “It can’t be possible.”
Maan wanted to go near the pond to ease his depression. But before Mohsin, he did not want to express his distress. But his mind was restless and this night was killer.
Maan, you remember that girl? “Suddenly, Mohsin said. But Maan attention was elsewhere.
“That girl, who had come to our house? Whose photo you’d clicked?”
Maan’s eyes crumpled.
“That girl, your” Moon Girl “, do you remember?”
Maan heartbeats raised. But he kept quiet, started waiting for further. Even a short silence was taking his life.
“Today I met her”
Maan suddenly stopped the car. He bolted eyes in pleasure and held spilling tears inside. He felt like, got back to his lost world. “My Geet is fine” was the biggest happiness he could find in life. But his happiness did not last for long when he heard,
“You know Maan, she is a courtesan!”
